Group three’s presentation was on Good Eating. The group started off with presenting their study guide and brochure. The Study guide was based on chapters 11, 13-part 1, 13 part 2, Chapter 14, Chapter 4 and Chapter 12. The brochure discussed “Reminders for Your Health”. A few things I have learned from Group three’s Brochure is that to be healthy you should limit your intake of processed foods, sugary drinks, an excessive amount of caffeine, stay hydrated, drink an adequate amount of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Consider incorporating herbal teas and infused water for added flavor and health benefits. Regular exercise, engage in regular physical activity, combining cardiovascular exercises, strength training, and flexibility exercises. I also learned that physical health is just as important as mental health and that you should seek counseling if needed. Being in natural environments and engaging in physical activity helps reduce cortisol levels (the stress Hormone) and induces a sense of relaxation and clam. Group three’s presentation went more in depth about the types of food you should eat to have a healthy lifestyle. It discussed the history of good eating explaining that early societies depended on fruits, vegetables and protein because they were readily available and provide things like nutrients and energy, essential vitamins and minerals contributing to a balanced diet and overall health. Something new that I learned from the presentation is that to have a balanced diet you need to have a fair share of Proteins, fat, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins. Eating a variety of good food is important for overall health since they provide a diverse range of nutrients, minimizing the risk of deficiencies, enhancing new enjoyment, supporting growth, managing weight and preventing chronic diseases. The group’s three’s overall presentation was very organized/ creative. The study guide was very detailed about information from the chapters in the book. The brochure had a lot of helpful information about healthy habits you can include in your day-to-day life. It also includes resources and numbers you can call for mental health counseling and resources. Group three’s presentation was also very organized and well written. I like how each member of the group took their time to explain their parts of the presentation. The presentation was nicely done each slide was very colorful and had pictures on them which I really liked the pictures matched with the theme of the project and the pictures showed the types of foods you should eat for overall health.
I was a part of group two’s presentation which was on Self Care. Our group went over the study guide first which was about Chapter’s 5 and 15, the key points of each chapter. Our group also had a brochure which discussed self-care and why it is important. I spoke about how self-care “is a broad term for anything we do for ourselves solely for the purpose of looking after our body or minds. It means looking after yourself physically, emotionally and socially.” I also spoke about the different types of self-care. The second part of the brochure spoke about advantages of self-care the things you can do to tend to your body’s needs and practicing self-care and resources to improve your self-care. The presentation part of our project discussed how our eating and sleeping habits play a big role in our lives. Our eating habits when, where and how you eat food. Different types of food promote happiness, energy and good mental health and other foods can make someone sad, sluggish and unhealthy. Sleeping habits are a crucial part of our daily lives without the proper amount of sleep people can become depressed, sluggish and even experience hallucinations. Our group also did an interview with a health care worker and the worker discussed how important it is for people to get checkups on their health and keep track of their cortisol levels etc., because a lot of people push off these kinds of things and end up in bad health conditions. Our presentation also spoke about how environmental factors play and part in self-care and how meditation can help with self-care. I like how our group spoke about different types of self-care and gave resources you can read or people you can call for things self-care related. Each member in our group was knowledgeable about their part of the presentation. I like how organized our slides where and theme of our presentation/slides.
Group one’s study guide Happiness- Pay It Forward went over chapters 1,2,6,7 and 8. The brochure discusses what is paying it forward. I learned that paying it forward project is focused on others. It is an opportunity for you to demonstrate leadership skills to impact others and positively make a difference. Group one’s presentation on paying it forward discussed the inception of paying it forward. I learned that you pay it forward by doing something nice for someone else. The idea of spreading kindness and positivity without expecting anything in return. Paying it forward creates a domino effect in society “the pay it forward mindset creates a cycle of generosity and compassion that spreads from one person to another creating the domino effect in society. Their presentation also discussed how you could make a positive impact and the organizations to do so such as legal organizations, environmental groups and national organizations. They included an interview from someone who pays it forward and the interviewer said something that really stuck out to me which was “We are all helpers to one another. When you do something from your heart, you will always be blessed and highly favored, because your heart is pure, and your intentions are pure. No matter if what you did was a small congestion or a big positive change in someone's life, what matters most is that you paid it forward and continued to help those in need”. Group one’s presentation was informative and made me emotional because their overall presentation spoke about the good deeds of others and how paying it forward can change people’s lives. I liked how informative their presentation was and how every member of the group spoke about this topic in their own way.
