Group ones topic was on Paying It Forward. They were tasked with chapters 1,2,6,7 and 8. Before this presentation I hadn't fully grasped the idea of what paying it forward might mean. The group did an amazing job in explaining what paying it forward means and how beneficial it can be to yourself and others. Paying it forward means doing something nice for someone else and not expecting anything in return. Being nice to be a good person. One thing that came to mind was how, it's free to be nice; it doesn't cost you anything so why not be nice! They mentioned how paying it forward creates a domino effect where someone does something nice for a person and that person does something nice for the next person and so on. I thought was really interesting. The interview was probably my favorite part about this presentation. The interview was absolutely touching and influenced me to be a nicer person; you can never be too nice. "We are all helpers to one another." is something I will quote and spread around to my friends. I also really liked the video on the firefighters. Its a powerful videos and it goes to show just how powerful paying it forward really is. Something as small as giving a stranger a compliment can really go a long way. Overall I really liked how informative and educational Group Ones presentation was, I found myself getting a little emotional on this presentation.

I'm in group two and our presentation was on Self Care and the importance of it. Our group started off with reviewing Chapter 5 and 15s study guide and highlighted key details on it. For our brochure, we decided to have two interviews instead of one. We also decided to include informative visuals in order to ensure the audience has a good understanding of each of our key points. At the beginning of the brochure we defined self care and how people tend to use the term “self care” very broadly. We made sure to point out and talk about how there's different layers to self care and how it's not only physically but also emotionally and socially. We then started to talk about the importance of self care and how important it is. We made sure to address your body’s needs and provided resources to help guide the audience to become their best selves. One interesting thing I liked that we covered was the fact that the foods you eat can one hundred percent influence not only your physical being, but also your mental well being too. We highlighted how different foods have different effects on your body. We also emphasized how sleeping is very important in keeping your well being in check. While my colleague was talking about this, it reminded me how people, especially college students, tend to get overwhelmed with work and decide to stay up all night to do their work, and while it may seem good that you're getting your work done no matter what, it is important to prioritize your mental health. My group did two interviews, one with a healthcare worker and another with a school counselor. The healthcare worker interview stressed the importance of regular checkups. He mentions how people tend to neglect regular checkups. I liked how even though he's a healthcare professional, he had an unbiased stand on how healthcare professionals tend to be the ones who neglect their health and don’t conduct regular checkups. The second interview was with a school counselor, Gabriel Lamas. I conducted this interview. Gabriel emphasized the importance of keeping your mental health in check and to always put yourself above anything. I loved the fact that when I asked him why he wanted to be a counselor, he decided to be vulnerable and open up a little bit about his past.

Group Three's topic was on Good Eating. They focused on chapters 11, 12, 13,14, and 4. Before group threes presentation, I thought I was well educated on this topic, however, I found myself learning a variety of new things. The group stressed the importance of limiting the intake on processed foods, staying hydrated, limiting sugary drinks and caffeine intake, etc. They mentioned herbal tea which is some what of a foreign drink for me but the group persuaded me to try some. Something which interested me was the fact that in order to have a good diet, its important to have a mix of protein, carbohydrates, and even fat. I also liked the history of how earlier societies had and depended on different things in order to survive. I think this is a very important topic because eating habits can make or break your life. Especially here in the United States where there is a lot of people with bad eating habits. I liked the way they emphasized how eating good is imperative for staying healthy. Even though I do not eat well at all, I now know the dangers and consequences of eating bad and having a bad diet. This presentation was very informative and well presented considering how much information there is on eating habits, diets, good eating, etc.
